A Must Do Tour from San Jose!
Ash_Y
, Jun 2022
Our tour experience was magnificent! I loved each stop - the fruit stand, breakfast, scarlet macaw viewing, crocodile bridge, and the incredible park! Manual Antonio was a wonderful adventure and our guide (Oscar) was fun, informative, and dedicated to helping us see the animals we hoped to spot. With the park being a decent distance from San Jose, the stops along the way broke it up in a way that allowed us to experience more of Costa Rica. I highly suggest this tour and think it's worth every single penny. I tried new fruits I never had before, drank delicious coconut water (bought at a roadside stand) and saw nearly every single animal people seek out in Costa Rica (except for very serious birders, of course). Thank you to the wonderful guide for putting this together!
Great if you love wildlife but ...

100% worth the trip

Pickup was prompt and on time. Our breakfast stop was really good we had gallo pinto with carne en salsa. We also stopped by a local fruit stand where we bought the best pineapple I’ve had. The national park was huge and really interesting, we got to see some capucha monkeys and lots of sloths and iguanas. The beach was exactly like the pictures blue water and green wildlife all around. Our lunch stop was delicious we had Pollo achiotado with a tropical fruit drink. 10/10 would recommend this tour to anyone considering it
Fun trip but missed out half the stops advertised
Kurt_M

We had a polite and friendly driver and Manuel Antonio park was beautiful.
However we do feel the trip was not what was advertised and certainly not worth the money that we paid. We didn't have the professional guide that was advertised and we didn't stop at Tarcoles Beach or the Jaco Beach look out point, even after asking the driver multiple times if we could follow the itinerary that we paid for. We booked this trip as we really wanted to have a chance to see some Scarlett Macaws, luckily for us there was a pair of Macaws in a tree on our first stop at the crocodile bridge. We really wanted to proceed with the other two stops.
After crocodile bridge we drove straight to Manuel Antonio national park. The park was beautiful however when we got there our driver walked with us and encouraged us to tag onto other tours which other visitors to the park had paid for, this was quite embarrassing to be honest. When we did see a lizard he asked us to share our binoculars with him and the rest of the group, we were happy to do so but felt ripped off considering every other tour guide in the park had their own high quality telescope for their groups. When we asked the driver if a guide was joining us or if he had any equipment with him, he said the guide for our day was sick and head office asked him to do the best he could; the guide would usually bring a telescope to help spot wildlife and provide information to the group.
We totally appreciate that this was not the drivers fault, he definitely tried his best but it was very obvious he was out of his depth and lost at points. He was on his phone for 90% of the trip even whilst driving. It was obvious he didn't know where he was going at times. We would have appreciated better customer service or more honesty from the beginning - maybe a choice on whether we still wanted to attend the trip or a discount.
We have done many tours during our vacation in Costa Rica, all except this one have been absolutely amazing and excellent value for money with very knowledgeable tour guides. This tour was the most expensive and the worst value for money we basically payed $250 for a shuttle to Manuel Antonio park with breakfast and lunch. We could have organised a private shuttle ourselves for less money!
We had the best tour guide (Francisco) and group of travelers on this tour!!!

Good trip but the 5:15 AM...
Machel_B
, Mar 2022
Good trip but the 5:15 AM pick up was definitely extreme. You buy ticket, it says 6 AM but then they demand 24 hours before trip for you to be ready at 5:15 am. I didn't like that... The driver was a cool guy though for the most part. I asked him to meet me in parking lot for lunch and he left me there to find the lunch spot on my own. When I caught up he said about agreeing to meet me but not showing up, "It was easy though." Outside of that good trip though so I give it average. However I gave it 4 stars because the guy begged us to give him a good review.
So much beauty in a jam-packed day!

What a fun-filled day! Manuel Antonio is such a beautiful place and such a contrast to San Jose - maybe my favorite beach I’ve ever been to! Although it’s a long day, it goes by really fast with all of the stops between the city and Manuel Antonio. Also, our guide Oscar was so much fun and extroverted that he helps the trip go by super quickly.
Great experience!

Oscar was an amazing guide and this was such a fantastic tour! We saw lots of animals, swam in one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen and enjoyed a delicious lunch with a breathtaking view. Overall, a simply terrific experience that I would recommend to anyone! We even ran into Oscar the next day during a different excursion, and he made sure to come and say hello. He made our experience really positive.

Juan has ample knowledge of the culture and wildlife of Costa Rica. He was informative, polite, and courteous during the whole duration of our excursion. I would recommend Juan to anyone wanting to branch out and explore. We will carry our experiences in Costa Rica with us for a lifetime.

Learning about the fauna of Costa Rica on a trip to the beach.
Muffet_T
, Jan 2022
The beautiful drive to the coast, seeing the coastal towns, learning about the fauna during the drive as well as in Manuel Antonio park, and most importantly, the beach of Manuel Antonio. It is a lovely, lovely beach. Lunch after the visit to the beach was also wonderful with a spectacular view of the ocean.

Alex was our driver and a great tour guide. Each stop was very informative, even the fruit stand. No buying pressure at all. We saw Macaw, crocodiles, monkeys and sloths in the wild! The tour was full of nature and a chance to relax and enjoy the view at the end. Breakfast and lunch were plenty, I never felt hungry.

Highly recommend!! Kenneth is the guide who is kind and nice, Andrei is special guide in national park. He is really amazing how found lots of animals and insects. Without him, we probably couldn’t see anything. But thankfully he is there and our trip became so wonderful. Food is good too. Looks like long driving, but it’s actually not that bad! Van is big, tour team everyone was so friendly. I had excellent experience.
Long drive, beautiful beaches

Long drive from San Jose! Juan was great but it was a short amount of time in each spot due to the long drive from/back to San Jose. If you want to have a nice beach time this is great. We didn’t see much of the animals except for the monkeys at the beach. Food was great with an amazing view!

Me and my boyfriend had a blast in this tour with Fernando Moss. Absolutely the best experience, saw tons of animals, shook hand with a monkey. Fernando Moss gave us tons of information about the plants, animals and geographic areas. Definitely recommend to add this to your trip in Costa Rica.

Ken was a great tour guide! we had a group of 5 in total, we really liked the 3 people we were paired with for our booking also. Our tour went over fruit, stopped for food which was great, and got a nice tour of the animals on the way to the beach. The beach was amazing with warm water, monkey activity, and beautiful views, I highly recommend.

Saul was a great guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly and fun. There were just 5 of us in the group which was nice. The van had a noisy leaky window that my son plugged with a bag which solved the issue. The breakfast was standard Costa Rican fare. We stopped at the crocodile bridge. The driver and guide know a place off the beaten path where we saw many macaw. That was very cool! Then we stopped at an overview of the ocean that was very nice. We then went on to Manuel Antonio. Our guide was able to help us see many animals: we saw both two and three toed sloth’s, white faced monkeys up very close, several lizards, a cayman, some bats and raccoons. We had time to swim in the ocean however be warned the changing facilities aren’t great. The lunch was delicious and view was spectacular! We were shocked when our guide told us it was only his 2nd time to lead that tour. We did this tour on a Sunday and the traffic back into the city was horrendous (should have taken 2-3 hours but took about 5-6 hours).
