- WHAT TO WEAR
- We provide free splash jackets upon arrival at the launch for whitewater trips. The best clothes are ones that dry quickly. A bathing suit is usually the best way to start. Synthetic shorts or trunks and a light polyesteror other synthetic shirt are fine for warm days. Cool days require a bit more preparation. Always avoid heavy cotton clothing like jeans or sweat pants and sweatshirts. Cotton is extremely absorbent and will soak up all that river water, making you wet and cold. Synthetic clothing such as polar fleece, rash guards, exercise wear, thermal underwear, nylon jog pants, tights and polypro are your best choices when the weather is cooler and are all better choices than cotton. For maximum comfort on cooler days, a wetsuit may be the best choice. They’re available for rent at our office. Secure shoes are required for all trips. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Sneakers are fine and sandals are good on warmer days, but they must have a heel strap and stay on if you had to go for a swim. (no flip-flops or Crocs!) Neoprene booties are available for rent as well. We also recommend that you bring along some dry clothes to leave on the bus. They’ll be waiting for you there when you get off the river.

This was a wonderful white water trip. Our family ranged from age 75 down to 10. We all had a fabulous time. Our guide, Luke, was fantastic. He made the experience wonderful for all of us

One of the best rafting trips!

Luke was the best boat guide we could’ve asked for. He was personable and funny and knew how to get everyone rowing at the right time. I have done whitewater rafting before but Luke truly made this experience the most memorable of all. He had lots of information handy and could point out wildlife along the banks of the river and be engaging with everyone. And let’s not forget Nancy who drove the bus to and from the downtown location. She was also very entertaining and helped pass the time on the bus ride. Highly recommended!

Lewis and Clark was an amazing experience. Lots of water and lots of fun. It was a little cold so glad we opted for the wet suits.

We had an amazing time! From the beginning to end everything ran smoothly…the check in, renting wetsuits, our bus ride and our amazing rafting trip. We were lucky enough to have Claire as our guide who quickly taught us everything we needed to know for a safe a fun adventure. If your looking to get soaked and have fun…this is it!

It was a rainy cold day we went anyway. Jacob was awesome. One disappointment was Lewis and Clark does did provide proper gear. They don't accommodate people over 180. They could not provide splash jackets at the sight other than medium and small no larges where available. There was one extra large, thank god or mike not have been able to raft, he also would not have got his money back. There were not splash jackets fir the rest of the party. We still had a good time. My suggestion for better customer care is to accommodate the plus size community. The acreage weight of all 4 of us is about 200Lb. Please update your clothing availability. Also the clothing in the store not be bought because you only carry up to xl. Thank for letting me give feedback.
worth it!

Was afraid the drought would diminish the whitewater, but it was excellent. Worth every penny, as my whole family had great fun!
Response from Host , Aug 2021
Kinda feels funny to say, but the drought has been good for the whitewater this August. The Idaho Potato Farmers own all of the water behind the Jackson Lake Dam, and they are bringing it all down. Good news for us (higher than usual August flows), bad news for the reservoir. Glad you had fun!
Fabulous

Such a fun crew and beautiful scenery. The time on the raft was the perfect amount being that the water was cold! The cold water added that much more to the experience!
lewis and clark rafting trip in snake river canyon, wyoming

My nephew and myself got an experience of a lifetime rafting in the canyon with our guide Jeff. Although my paddling skills aren't what they were 20 years ago I hd an awesome experience. Talking for myself I wish I could stayed in the raft a little longer it was an exhilerating float trip. As I said I fell out of the raft on the first rapids where we dropped into a huge hole all I remember was waves over the top of me that layed me back into the paddler behind me. The next thing I rember was about a foot or more of water above me with the sun shining through. I don' t know how I managed to hold onto the paddle but I remember reaching out to the raft which was over to the side of me and somehow two raft lengths away. Well, Jeff paddled back to pick me up and lift me back into the boat without the paddle that the ladie next to me in the raft took after pulling me back to the raft. After getting into the raft I realized the water was much warmer than the wind blowing in my face and over my body. What a great start for the trip but With all that excitement I knew that all my strength was gone from my body. Thus I lost my paddling position but the rest of the trip was just.as exciting as the first rapids on the river. It has taken meawhile to collect my thoughts because our trip was back in the last week of July. Thanks for the memories and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can only say that this trip on the snake river through thc canyon in the setting of Grand Tetons is a time I will remember the rest of my life. I hope you can read my writing. Many Thanks For Great Memories.

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
